Our Services

Our Physiotherapists use an evidence-based combination of hands-on therapy, exercise and education guided by a comprehensive assessment. We aim to help you regain control over your pain and prevent re-injury.

Hands on Physiotherapy

Manual therapy is well supported in the research to provide faster recovery times in clients with acute injuries. While prevention is better than a short-term cure, we always aim to send you out feeling better than you came in. Our Physios can choose from manual therapy techniques including; deep soft tissue release, trigger point release, joint and nerve mobilisation, stretching, traction, relaxation techniques and joint manipulation. We are guided by our comprehensive assessment and incorporate these techniques in a wider preventative approach with exercise therapy and self-management techniques. We aim to give you the skills and strategies to be as independent as possible.

Individual/Group Exercise Therapy

Our aim is to provide you with long-term relief and prevent recurrence where possible. With this in mind, we assess for contributing factors and target them with exercises and education. We also aim to empower our clients with the knowledge and motivation needed to gain the full benefits of the exercise programs. The programs might be designed for our clients at home, at the gym or in our group exercise classes. We also regularly coordinate with personal trainers or gym instructors to ensure the programs best fit our clients’ needs.

Our group exercise classes incorporate a wide range of exercises in a fun but focused environment that aim to improve balance, flexibility, strength and body awareness. The exercise classes are provided by our Physiotherapists and can be claimed through your Private Health Fund for a rebate. There is a strong evidence base supporting the use of individualised exercise programs in the rehabilitation and prevention of many different injuries including back and neck pain. Our Physios perform an initial assessment to understand your injury, the contributing factors and your specific goals. We then design a tailored program for you and progress it as appropriate. The hour long classes have a maximum of 5-6 participants which allows us to carefully supervise your technique, progress the exercises and maximise their effectiveness. The classes are suitable for the beginner and can challenge even the elite athlete. We incorporate a wide range of floor exercises, Pilates reformer and trapeze table exercises and functional exercises to meet the demands of your work and sport.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is a technique using fine gauge needles, similar to those used in acupuncture, to relax muscular tension and promote healing and pain relief. It is not the same as acupuncture as it targets the muscles, fascia and ligaments rather than meridians. The exact way that it works is not known but it is thought to increase blood flow to the specific area similar to massage. Dry Needling can be an effective adjunct treatment in the management of many musculoskeletal conditions including:

  • Low back pain and spasm
  • Sciatic pain
  • Shoulder pain, bursitis and tendinopathy
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
  • Hip pain, bursitis and tendinopathy
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Headaches and neck pain
  • Temporomandibular joint or jaw pain

Our Physiotherapists incorporate Dry Needling into a broader management plan. There are always other alternatives to Dry Needling and our Physiotherapists discuss it all with you before asking for your consent.

Falls Prevention

As we age we naturally lose our strength, flexibility, speed and balance. This can cause us to lose confidence in our body and our ability to keep on our feet or break our fall. This loss of confidence can be isolating, limit community activity and make activities of daily living much more difficult. The good news though is that regardless of how old we are, we can always improve our strength, flexibility and balance.

Our Physiotherapists are experienced in aged care and falls prevention. We provide the following services:

  • Assessment of physical function, strength and balance
  • Falls prevention classes
  • communication with key parties including family members and health professionals.
  • The option of a home assessment to provide advice on how to reduce the number of tripping hazards etc.

The falls prevention classes are designed to improve balance, strength and confidence. The classes have small numbers or are one-to-one to ensure each individual remains safe and receives the necessary attention.
